Hello, Its Tonya

Doctor of Education & Professor of Nursing

The Nursing Station® was established and developed to primarily meet the needs of nursing students, nurses, health care professionals, and the curious general public.

I am Dr. Tonya Dixon Ed. D, MSN, MBA, MPH, RN founder of The Nursing Station®. I have been a member of the nursing profession for many years. I have practiced across multiple levels of nursing. In addition, I have worked in a variety of settings as a staff nurse, manager, coordinator, director, educator, and leader. I have taught certified nursing assistants, medical assistants, licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, in associate, bachelors, and masters  programs; as well as physicians in the clerkships. I continue to educate and practice in the field.

The Nursing Station® hopes to support the profession through engagement, education, collaboration, and of course by enhancing preparedness.

Why Blogging..

HOW IT STARTED…

Blogging helps establish you as an expert in your industry. As a member of the nursing profession, I have weathered many storms. I have completed 4 different levels of nursing. In addition, I have completed the bachelors, masters, and doctorate. My Doctorate is in Education, focused on curriculum and instruction. My blog seeks to assist new and current nurses and encouraging others who decide to navigate in the field of nursing. Providing education and motivation to the masses even non nurses is key.

My posts represent my personality. Proving that I am different then all others.  My battle with cancer provided me with the courage I needed to not give a hoot. I am further differentiating myself and my business. There is room for blogging for all of us. Blogging helps us to document our thoughts.

My blog creates a path from my brand to my audience, allowing me to cultivate and connect with my community. Whether it’s first-time, long-time, or potential customers, previous or current students, nurses, fans, haters. Having a place to educate the masses and share knowledge is the goal.

I am blogging to establish credibility as a member of the nursing profession and as an experienced educator. The other reason I am blogging is to lay out those items that I wish to share with whomever decides to read about them. I wish to begin a dialogue among my peers, future nurses, and those looking for a change in their career. Let’s not forget about sharing “News You Can Use” from The Nursing Station®.
